The Edmonton Croatia Soccer Club was formed in 1969 and continues today as one of Edmonton’s strongest adult amateur soccer clubs. The club currently has three Men’s teams: Dinamo, Hajduk and NK, one Masters, and one Women’s team. The clubs is renowned for its top facilities, including:

  • two high class premier fields

  • two additional full sized fields

  • a training field

  • enclosed dressing rooms with showers

  • a fully functional gazebo with bar and kitchen facilities

The club hosts the biggest friendly and small sided tournament in Alberta called the Joe’s Friendly. For tournament information please visit the Joe’s Friendly Page.

Grand Opening of the Fields

The grand opening of the fields coincided with the Club's 20th anniversary and took place the long weekend in July 1989. The annual Croatian Soccer Tournament was the first tournament to be played at the fields.Today, the Club's grounds consist of 10 acres of developed land. The grounds include a gazebo with a kitchen and eating area, 4 first class soccer fields, changing rooms with showers, as well as courts for other sports (badminton, volleyball and lawn bowling.)The grounds are open from spring to fall. In addition to the soccer games and tournaments that take place at the grounds, the grounds have been rented out for other functions, including weddings, bridal showers, bachelor parties, gift openings, christening parties, picnics and barbecues, and other social events. The grounds have been a rest point for t participants of the Albertalung Association's bike race.

1970 First Membership Card 1977 A second team is registered 1978 Edmonton Croatia played against Sydney Croatia, a semi-professional team from Sydney, Australia. Result - 2:1 for Sydney with the winning goal scored in the final minute of the game. 1981 Croatia Oldtimers is established. 1982 1st Western Croatian Tournament is set in Calgary and EdmontonCroatia wins the tournament. 1984 1st Western Croatian tournament in Edmonton. 1985 Land is purchased to develop a soccer facility 1989 20th Anniversary of the Club. 2nd Western Croatian Tournament held in Edmonton. 1990 A Reserve Team and an under 18 team are established with Peter Sekulic & Pasquale Deluca as Coaches. U 18 team made it to the provincial finals. 1994 3rd Time the Western Canadian Croatia Soccer tournament held in Edmonton. 1999 Croatia's Second Team Advances to the First Division in the Indoor and Outdoor League. 2000 Croatia wins the Mini-World Cup against Germany. The score was 3-2. Nick Culo, Mario Doljanski and Oliver Brkin were named on the Allstar team. 2002 Croatia bows out to El Salvador in the Quarter Finals in Mini - World Cup. 2003 Croatia starts up an Under 18 Youth Squad and Classic Women's Squad 2003 Croatia's Premier's team wins the Tier One Alberta Provinicial Championships. 2004 Croatia's Mens Masters win the Mini World Cup against Ukraine. The score was 2-1. Zoran Maletic, Peter Sekulic and Marjan Gini were named on the Allstar team. Croatia Men lose to Italy 2-1 in the quarterfinals. 2004 4th time The Western Canadian Croatia Soccer tournament in Edmonton. 2009 All three of Croatia’s Mini World Cup teams deliver impressive results 2009 Dinamo has a record number of very talented players trying out for the Outdoor team 2009 Field 4 and a new training field open, 5 new 5v5 fields are added 2009 Preparations for the Club’s 40th Anniversary are underway (40 years of success!!!!)
